Angel tracking device to get a new name
The NFL’s official mobile app has changed its name to Angel Tracker, the league announced Wednesday.
The name change comes as the NFL has seen a drop in viewership and ad revenue as more fans switch over to the Apple Watch.
“With the launch of the Apple Watches, we are seeing unprecedented demand for our apps, which makes it imperative that we ensure our apps are delivering the value we need to remain relevant and successful,” NFL Vice President of Product Management, Chris Anderson, said in a statement.
“The name change will help us identify our apps more easily for consumers.”
The NFL’s app is available on the iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
The app now has over 15 million downloads, the statement said.
The name of the app has been changed to Angel Tracking Device and the name of its app has also been changed.
“We’re excited to bring the Angels into the digital age and provide fans with a more personalized experience on the NFL app,” Anderson said.
