Bloomberg New York — The FDA said Friday that it is reviewing a new device that tracks and records the health of people’s bodies, according.
The FDA will not be approving the device, which is being developed by a company called BioLite.
BioLite is the largest maker of body-tracking devices and other technology that can track the body and identify its whereabouts.
The device has the potential to help health care workers and police officers, who want to track down a person in an emergency or who is suspected of committing a crime.
The agency said it will not allow it to be sold unless bioLite shows it has “clear safety and efficacy.”
The agency has not made a final decision about whether to approve the device or not.
BioLight is working on other products that track a variety of medical equipment, including surgical tools, surgical instruments and pacemakers, the agency said.
BioLight is also working on a system that can collect data about the movements of people, like the steps they take.
The FDA approved bioLITE in 2015 for tracking people with disabilities, but it is now working on products that can be used to track people with dementia, heart disease, diabetes, and other health conditions.
Bio Lite also makes devices that record a person’s body temperature.
