Chip Tracking Device Used in Chip Tracking Devices in US, Germany, UK
A video released by the U.S. National Security Agency shows a tracking device that can be attached to a chip embedded in the chip used in cell phones.
The video was taken at a U.K. facility called the National Institute of Standards and Technology, which specializes in chip-embedded electronic circuits.
The video shows a device in the device’s display that tracks the location of the chip and sends a signal to the chip’s chip-tracking software, the NIST told NBC News.
“We can track the chip, the chip-based chip, and the chip technology itself,” said Christopher Allen, director of NIST’s chip technology unit.
In the video, the device can be seen attached to the chips in a number of devices, including smartphones, laptops, and other electronic devices.
It appears that it can track even the smallest of chips and even the components inside the device, Allen said.
Allen said the NSTs chip tracking technology is used to track the location, position, and behavior of chips in the electronic devices that are sold to the public.
The NISTs technology is also used in surveillance technology for law enforcement agencies.
A spokesperson for the NISM told NBC that the agency is not aware of any device being sold that can use the technology.
NIST also released an update on its chip tracking software, noting that it has been updated to detect chip-borne viruses.
The software was first used in the development of the U-2 spy plane, which flew to North Vietnam in 1970.
